September is one of my favourite months of the year mainly because it’s my birthday and all attention is on me. Or at least it used to be (more on that later). Rather than do my usual ‘Monthly Plans’ blog, I thought it would be a good idea to write about how my month went instead. What a great idea right? Well without any further ado, here are the things I loved in September.
01. Wedding Bells
On the 9th September, my husband Steven and I travelled down to Dumfries to attend the wedding of my very good friend Joanne. Joanne and I have been friends since we were sixteen years old when we both started a weekend job at Littlewoods. We initially started hanging out by going to gigs – Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Rihanna to name a few and a friendship blossomed over that. Joanne has always been a fantastic friend to me and while I don’t see her very often living in different parts of the country, when we do meet up, it feels like we just saw each other yesterday.
Her wedding was held at the Mabie House Hotel just outside Dumfries. The weather managed to stay nice so the ceremony was held outside looking out into nature. It was a lovely ceremony and Joanne looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress – a wonder in white. Her bridesmaids all looked lovely in shades of purple too. The speeches were emotional and heartfelt and honestly, it was such a privilege to have been invited to celebrate this special day with her. A truly wonderful day.
02. A Birthday In Berlin
As previously mentioned, September is my birthday month and this year I turned the magical thirty! My hubby and I both wanted to go on holiday for our birthdays and I decided on Berlin for mine. I’m not really sure why I wanted to go to Berlin, I’ve just always wanted to visit Germany. We travelled on the Monday and stayed for 4 nights in the Radisson Blu Hotel in the heart of Berlin City. I had a lovely time in Berlin and a great birthday too even if it didn’t feel like my birthday. A full blog on my travels in Berlin is coming soon but I thought I’d share some pictures from my time in such a historic city.
03. Saying Hello To A New Family Member
On September 16th, I became an uncle again. Archie James Gallacher Smith came into the world and he is the teeniest most adorable baby ever! I’m very happy for my brother and his fiancé Rowan. I know they will be fantastic parents and I can’t wait to see Archie grow up. It will be very different from watching my nephew Findlay growing up as I still lived in Dumfries back then. Thank goodness I can drive now right and I can visit whenever I want right?!
September was a pretty fun month for me and I’m feeling super blessed. How was your September? Let me know in the comments below and as always, thanks for reading!
