With season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race now complete and the casting for season 10 well underway, rumours are circulating that a 3rd season of Allstars is on the way. After the huge success of Allstars 2, it’s not surprising news. But who could be joining the cast? With nine seasons worth of queens to choose from, there is plenty of choice. Here are the queens I’d pick for Allstars 3.
With season 1 not available on streaming sites, I think it’s really important for those queens to make an appearance. It gives them a chance to introduce themselves to a new drag race audience. Ongina was my favourite contestant from the first season – she was very happy go lucky and full of positivity. I think she could be a really great addition to Allstars 3.
02. Jessica Wild
Season 2 Queens have been well represented in previous seasons of Allstars but one queen I’d like to see return is Jessica Wild. It’s been a while since I last watched season 2 but I remember liking Jessica. Allstars 2 was a huge success for Tatianna and I think it could be a real benefit for Jessica to get to reintroduce herself to the world of Drag Race.
I know that a lot of people would be unsure of Shangela returning since she appeared in both seasons 2 and 3 but for me, that was a long time ago therefore it doesn’t matter. Shangela was quite a hot head and she certainly brought the fireworks during her time on the show. I would love to see her back and do the exact same. She’s fantastic entertainment.
I’m not sure if Willam would do the show if approached but I would hope she would. After being unceremoniously cut from the line-up of the first season of Allstars, I can understand why she’d be apprehensive about returning. During her time on season 4, Willam was bitchy but likeable and had the goods to back it up. It’s been a few years now since her season and Willam has only gone from strength to strength.
05. Trinity K Bonet
The true lip-sync assassin of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Trinity K Bonet would wipe away the competition with her legendary lip-syncs. Trinity had a bit of an attitude problem during season 6 but she learned to open up and found her confidence towards the end. So I would like to see how she’s progressed now and we could really do with an incredible lip-syncer in Allstars 3.
06. Laganja Estranga
I was not a fan of Laganja at all during her original run on season 6. She was way too over the top, incredibly fake and hiding behind a mask. I’ve heard that she’s mellowed a lot now so I am willing to give her a chance. She did have potential.
07. Trixie Mattel
Here’s the thing with Trixie – I like her but I don’t think she’s as good as people make her out to be. That being said, I don’t think the setup for season 7 really worked for her. So in that sense, I’d like to see Trixie again and see if she does have something more to show us. Aesthetically, she is very unique to all the other queens too with her over the top makeup.
Every season has that one queen who is the ‘experimental’ queen. For season seven, that was Max who was consistently flawless on the runway. But at the same time, she was very humourless and a little forgettable. Like Trixie, I wonder if this was to do with the lacklustre challenges of season seven so I’m intrigue to see if she’s grown at all since then.
09. Kim Chi
Kim Chi was a really fantastic contestant on season eight. Her looks are some of the best I’ve ever seen on drag race. She’s probably my favourite fashion queen to ever grace the show – seriously brilliant. She was a little unsure of herself though but from what I’ve seen since then, she’s found her confidence. And she’s funny! I think she could be really great in Allstars.
10. Chi Chi Devayne
I’ll always remember Chi Chi for her cheap ass runway looks. But that really was a part of her appeal. I always wondered what Chi Chi could do with a budget though. She never really let that stop her though and she always tried her best with every challenge. It kinda irks me that we had a final four in season nine but not in season eight when Chi Chi was much more deserving. Redemption for Chi Chi with Allstars 3.
You may have noticed that there are no Queens from seasons five or nine. Season five was pretty much bled dry in Allstars 2 and it feels too early for any of the season nine queens to return. They need a bit of time to grow from their experience on the show before returning. I’d accept Valentina returning but let’s keep the brilliant Shea, Trinity and Nina for Allstars 4.
