Things To Do This Halloween

We’ve entered October and y’all know what that means right – it’s time to get our spooky on! Who doesn’t love Halloween right?! I am a big scaredy cat and I still love Halloween. Carving pumpkins, getting dressed up and trick or treating – it’s so much fun! And Halloween 2017 is set to be no different as there is tons of things to do in and around Glasgow. Click through to read my essential Halloween guide for 2017.

HALLOWEEN DRIVE IN MOVIES WITH M&D’S

27TH OCTOBER – 29TH OCTOBER

One of the first Halloween things I did when I first moved to Glasgow was go to the Halloween Drive In at M&D’s Theme Park. My friends and I went to a late night screening of Insidious and I kid you not, I had to sleep with the light on for weeks! That movie scared the absolute crap out of me. It was really fun though, sitting with my friends in our onesies and duvets, snacks a-plenty at 1 in the morning. So if you have a car then I would highly recommend this event.

There is a decent set of movies on this year from Trolls for the kids to The Conjuring 2 and 28 Days Later for those looking for a scare. You can find out more at the M&D’s Website.

THE PAISLEY HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL

27TH OCTOBER – 28TH OCTOBER

The Paisley Halloween Festival has been running now for a couple of years and each year it goes from strength to strength. And this year, the festival is bringing even more over 2 days! There really is something for everyone. If you’re looking for family friendly things to do then there is face painting, pumpkin carving, arts and crafts workshops and events at Paisley Museum to name just a few. For the grown-ups, there is a Halloween Ball in Paisley Town Hall (I’ll see you there), a Murder Mystery Dinner at Zambretto’s and Halloween movies such as ‘Halloween’ and ‘Ghostbusters’ being shown on Browns Lane. This is all topped off with a fantastic Fire Garden around Paisley Abbey and a spooky Halloween parade through town led by the magical SPARK! LED Drummers. Seriously, you don’t want to miss this.

For a full list of events on at the Paisley Halloween Festival, please visit the Paisley 2021 website.

THE SCREAM EXPERIENCE

27TH OCTOBER – 28TH OCTOBER

Now I might not like spooky horror films about the supernatural, but I LOVE a slasher film. The Scream movies (including Scream 4) are without a doubt, the best in the genre. I wish they’d make more. So when I came across ‘The Scream Experience’ on Facebook, I was instantly excited. Navigate your way through a maze filled with professional scare actors and escape with your life (and a survivor cocktail). Then sit back and relax to watch Scream on the big screen with a bar and street food available. I get the feeling that there will be more once you’re through the maze but obviously they want to keep some things a surprise. Either way it sounds like fun!

The Scream Experience comes to Glasgow on 27th October and you can find more information here.

HALLOWEEN DOG DISCO

29TH OCTOBER

Holy crap! A party where people bring their dogs dressed up in costumes! Another reason why I’m mad that I don’t have a dog yet! This is a free event held at the 13th Note Bar on King Street in Glasgow. Just bring your dog along in a super awesome Halloween costume, bob for bones and enjoy the company of so many adorable doggies!

For more information, please visit their Facebook page.

These are just a few of the things happening in and around Glasgow over the spooky season. If you have any special Halloween plans, let me know in the comments below!
